My 1st time to South Africa was 11 years ago
In 7 days I’m headed back. Back to South Africa. This photo was taken in late 2003. I was 16. I guess you can say the experiences in my life were preparing me for what I do now. Beyoncé, along with boys and the reality of HIV/AIDS were just a few topics of the conversation me and my new friends had. @beyonce’s first solo album had just come out and that was the only CD I had for my disc player. Anytime I hear that album I’m always reminded of my experience visiting the Motherland for the first time.
This time around I will be speaking at a school amongst many other things. My dad told me last night “continue the work you didn’t know you started, 11 years ago.” #cantstayput
