I’m Going to Southeast Asia!
You know how you say you want to do something and it starts off as a thought or dream. You want your dream to come true but you’ve dreamed about a lot of different things in life that have yet to come to fruition so naturally you sabotage yourself a little. What I will say is, when you truly make up your mind that you want to do something like really really make up your mind, your whole body and spirit will get aligned with your dream and you will make it happen. I am truly overwhelmed, surprised, overjoyed and in disbelief that I was able to pull this off. I decided I wanted to go to Southeast Asia for a month sitting on my best friends couch 4 months ago in LA. Mind you, I had just quit my job to follow my passion of inspiring others through my travels. I never underestimated my ability but I get emotional when I think to myself “Lauren, you really pulled it off, like you really did it.” Let me be the first to say that if it weren’t for the GRACE of GOD I don’t know where I would be! God has shown me SO much favor through out my journey! I can’t even begin to explain. I plan on sharing my testimony on the day I depart, so stay tuned. (Broke stories, disagreements, inspiring situations, couch living, sleepless nights, pitching to investors, pitching to sponsors, hundreds of emails, bartering with friends for needed services the list goes on)
Any who, I’m going to ASIA!!!!!!!! Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Why Southeast Asia? Because when traveling on a budget you want to go somewhere where the dollar is strong. Countries where you can really experience the culture on little to nothing. After all my intent is to get my peers to get out and travel. Plus, us Americans know so much about Europe already. Most people only think of Asia when we see where our clothes and toys are made. No bueno! So I challenged myself to live off of $30/day. Can I do it?!?! I’m going to try. The biggest challenge will be Hong Kong as it’s a very developed and westernized city. But I wanted to visit Hong Kong to compare it New York or London. What’s even more awesome about this trip? I am taking a photographer with me to document my whole experience through pictures and film!
I am going to Asia during the HOTTEST time! I can only imagine what my hair is about to be looking like! I will be reaching out to some natural hair gurus to figure out what I’m about to do with my hair. smh. Got to look cute for the photo ops right?! I can’t wait to visit the temples and pray and meditate or ride on elephants in the jungle or visit the beaches in Phuket. I have a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng to do list!
I can’t wait to share my experience with you! I’m calling myself the Inspirational Explorer these days. I think it’s fitting. I won’t go postal with blog post but I will be uploading photos on my other social media outlets. Check me out on instagram and twitter @lomillie.
The countdown has started!! 6 more days!!
