Howard Homecoming 2014
Cue “I’mmmmmmm so glad I went to Howard U and not a yt school.” When I was in Iceland I told Arni, my photographer, that I HAD to get tons of photos in my Howard bucket hat. lol We OUTCHEA! Going to Howard was by far the best decision I’ve made in my 27 years life. (Quitting my job to launch Can’t Stay Put is up there too) This year I celebrated my 5 year reunion from graduating. Yeah, I know. I’m getting old. But it’s definitely ok because being satisfied but not content with my life is a beautiful thing.
My freshmen dorm! Baldwin: 3rd Floor!
It’s just something about the energy of Howard Homecoming. It’s indescribable….I mean one could compare it to the indescribable energy of New York City. Any who, I went back to DC, my old stopping grounds and partied like I had been held in captivity for two years. At my age, I don’t necessarily think I have anything to be celebrating quite yet to be partying for no reason. Let me get CSP to a certain level then I’ll be cool partying. But HU Homecoming is more than enough reason to go hard.
Love these girls!
This was my first homecoming since starting Can’t Stay Put. I must say it was pretty dope to hear from my peers how I’ve inspired them. Special shout out to my girl Simone for this. Made my heart smile:)
Anane is my my A1 since Day 1. We went to high school and Howard together. My first roommate in college!
My girl Vic! I hope everyone is lucky enough to have a friend that believes in your dreams from the very beginning! That’s Vic. Can’t Stay Put was pretty much born on her couch:)
Like other entrepreneurs and brand builders, your main focus is your business. Very rarely do you have a budget in the beginning for clothes and shoes and all that. But one thing you gotta know is. . . .you can’t show up to HUHC without bringing ya A game. I’ve always been known as a “dresser” but since starting CSP it’s no longer a priority of mine to “keep up.” I still make it a point to be fly but just not in the “latest” threads. It’s amazing what you will come up with when you have little to no resources. I probably dress better now with little to no money than when I had plenty to spend on shoes and clothes. I took a quick trip to the thrift store meshed the pieces with things I already had, cut a few pieces here and there and I was good to go.
I love my HU! Keep your fingers crossed on the possibilities of CSP x HU! I’m working on it:)
