The story of Can’t Stay Put really started in Maui
My 3 instagram post from my birthday trip to Maui sum up why!
The second time I came to Maui was a week after I quit my job. January 2013. I still didn’t have a clue what the hell I was going to do, but tickets were only $250rt from Oakland and at the time I had money saved up and tax returns coming soon. So I figured what better way to celebrate my jump into the unknown then to go back to the place that inspired me jump in the first place. ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ On the third day of the trip, I set out to do the road to Hana. It’s a long drive of windy roads, amazing views…passing by many waterfalls, black and red sand beaches. Just truly a magical experience. As I was walking through a bamboo forest on a hike to a waterfall, I kid you not I heard God say “you need to figure out how to do this” I said “This?” He said “you need to figure out how to inspire people through your experiences.” ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ I then thought about my life. It wasn’t a coincidence that I started flying by myself at 5, or bought a ticket with sky miles at 12 or that I was the daughter of a million miler who sent me postcards from all over the world or that through both of my parents I was able to experience the world and was naturally encouraged to be fearless. At that moment, I realized that that was a privilege that most kids let alone adults don’t ever get to experience. I started to feel a sense of guilt because I didn’t think it was fair that I had those experiences when so many others don’t. ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ So I vowed to use those experiences and my know-how to help people. I was determined to figure out a way to help people with what was specific to me… Going out in the world and being fearless. Unlike others who were bit by the travel bug in their 20s or studied abroad in college, I’ve never known a life without travel. I was determined to create a space for myself to use my travel experiences to inspire people to live fearlessly and pursue their dreams. That’s why I created the title, Inspirational Explorer.
