Yesterday @malaquiasgui invited me to have lunch with him and his friends in the Gamboa bottoms. In the few words of English he knew he said "its going to be a different experience…not very nice like where tourist go." I told him you must not know how I roll…. I feel more comfortable in the hood of places around the world. Today I'll be recapping my experience in the Gamboa Bottoms… A humble black community who by western standards occupy million dollar ocean front land. Years ago there was a jail here that held slaves captive. As slaves became free, they started to settle in this area. Over time, it became a well known neighborhood for the people. So much that whenever developers would try to talk to anyone from this neighborhood they were always ignored with the belief that if no one folded they would always have control…. Which later birthed The Gamboa Tops… Condo high rises that sit up on the top of the hill which houses some the richest Salvadorians. Couldn't get the ocean front so they had to settle with the ocean view. 👊🏿 || #CantStayPut #Gamboa #Salvador #Bahia #Brazil

I'll be forever grateful for my involvement in the launch of #TNExperiences. History was made! It seems like it was just yesterday I was in Bahia scouting and putting together @TravelNoire's vision of an experience of a lifetime. Now to be on the other end of two successful group trips, I can't help but be grateful for the opportunity. Being able to lead my peers on a experience that dived into the culture of what has become one my favorite cities in the world, Salvador. It was truly life changing. We came, we saw, we conquered!
