I recently collaborated with Bag Exchange for a Can’t Stay Put™ inspired photo shoot, shot by Yazid. Bag Exchange sells gently used and sometimes new authentic luxury handbags and accessories. They also have a travel line which includes the Power Purse, a wristlet that can hold your credit cards, money, lipgloss but also act as a charging station for your iPhone.

This is my favorite picture. To me it represents the business side of what I am doing. I think it’s easy for people to overlook the fact that I am building a business behind the scenes because what I tend to share is the fun part of Can’t Stay Put™, the actual jetsetting and city hopping.  The struggle of being the face of my brand and the CEO. No complaints though:)

Currently, I don’t carry a purse or handbag. I have nothing against them. It’s just that I would rather not carry a handbag until I can rock the ones I want or better yet, truly afford the ones I want. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “if you can’t keep the cost of the bag in your account at all times, you can’t afford the bag.” But it should be a little deeper than that.

Here are my rules for luxurious purchases:

1. You must match the cost of the item and deposit it into your savings/investment account

2. You must tithe or donate half the cost of the item to church or a good cause

So in actuality, a $1,500 purchase is really worth $3,750. Now don’t think I have anything against spending money on nice things because I would cash out in a hot second, but only if I followed my rules. I love designer clothes, bags, shoes like the next woman but I don’t worship them. I definitely went through a phase where I placed a lot of value on material items. Thank God I saw the light. lol You have to make sure your priorities are in check. Because I’ll be damned if I own a $2,000 bag and still have months where I’m hustling to take care of rent.
