It is still hard to believe that I flew from NYC to Milan for $130 bucks ROUNDTRIP! So how the hell did this happen? My good friend Z, founder of Travel Noire, called me and said “Yo, there are tickets to Milan for $130 roundtrip from NYC. There is this Norweigan site that forgot to add the fuel surcharges and tickets are dirt cheap.” Needless to say I was freaking out, I HAD to cop a ticket. But of course there was a barrier, I didn’t have $130 to get the ticket, but I knew I had money coming in from a gig I worked a few weeks prior so I had some leverage to borrow the funds. I texted and called some of everybody to find someone to go with me. Well people I thought could act fast and didn’t need to check in with a boss to request time off. When there is a glitch you don’t have time to wait and put in a time-off request because by that time the airline would have gotten wind to the glitch and shut it down or the tickets would be sold out.

After hitting people up with no success, my best friend since grade school hit me back like of course. Nicole’s schedule isn’t that flexible but figured if she didn’t get the time off $130 wasn’t a big loss so might as well. Being the awesome best friend that I am, she blessed me with my ticket as a christmas gift!

Booking the ticket wasn’t an issue other than dealing with the slowness of the process. You could definitely tell the site was experiencing a lot of traffic. After the the ticket was booked, the waiting game began. The Norweigan site gave us a confirmation number BUT United had to honor the reservation and confirm us with a ticket so we knew it was real. I kept on checking the open forums about the glitch. Everyone kept writing “What ever you do, DON’T CALL UNITED,” in fear that United wouldn’t honor the tickets if they caught wind to what was going on. I stayed up all night until I got that email with our ticket! Praise Jesus! We had successfully gotten a ticket to Milan for $130!
